Believe Part One: Beliefs

Listen to messages from Arvada Christian Church or download them for later.

BELIEVE: Week 00: Believe you can change! "I need to make a change?" Have you ever said that? Many of us want to change. But how? 2 Peter 1 is perhaps one of the greatest chapters in the Bible on how we change. Join us as Pastor Joe leads us in this study in how we can change. Believe you can change.

BELIEVE: Week 01: God: In week one of our Believe series we begin where we must--God. But the important question (and we must get the question right) is not "Is there a God?" but rather, "Who is God?" To answer that question Pastor Joe turns to an obscure passage of Scripture where a good king of Israel, who is surrounded by his enemies, comes before God to cry out for help. His name was Jehoshaphat. He asks God three questions that will serve as a platform to begin to understand who God is: "Are you not?" "Did you not?" and "Will you not?" Join us as we explore who God is and find courage to face the enemies in our lives.

BELIEVE: Week 02: Personal God: In week two of Believe we take the next step from a belief in a God to a belief in the God who cares about you. We can know that God is BIG from what He created but can a BIG God care about little me? The Bible teaches that though God is a BIG God He can also be "small." Join us as Pastor Joe teaches us how God cares for us.

BELIEVE: Week 03: Salvation: In week three of our Believe series we ask the question: "How do I have a relationship with God?" The answer is not a checklist or system for salvation. Instead salvation is a person: Jesus Christ. Join us as we look at three questions: "Why do I need salvation?"; "What is salvation?"; "Who can give salvation?"

BELIEVE: Week 04: The Bible: Babe Ruth was the great home run hitter for the New York Yankees baseball team. During one particular at-bat, the umpire, Babe Pinelli, called Ruth out on strikes. There was a stunned silence in the stands. Ruth turned to Pinelli and said, "There are 40,000 people here who know that last one was a ball." Pinelli replied, "Maybe so, but mine is the only opinion that counts."
We live in a world of thousands of opinions. Whose opinion counts? Who has the authority that matters? There are experts in every field imaginable, some of whom say conflicting things. Who do we look to as our authority? This week we look at why we study the Bible. I believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God that guides my beliefs and actions.

BELIEVE: Week 05: Identity In Christ: There are many voices crying out in the world today trying to answer your question, "Who am I?" Who will you listen to? But there is another voice. This voice has the right to be heard because it is the voice that created you, who created all things. What does this voice tell us? Join us as we study Ephesians 1:3-14 to discover who God says you are.

BELIEVE: Week 06: The Church: Jesus said, "...upon this rock I will build my church." What did he mean? What is the church that Jesus builds like? Join us as we look at what the church that Jesus built is meant to look like.

BELIEVE: Week 07: Humanity: How God sees us impacts how we see ourselves. How does God view people? Join us as we discover our God is a God of grace and love.

BELIEVE: Week 08: Compassion: Compassion is very close to the heart of God and if we are to be people with God’s own heart we must be people of compassion. In Psalm 82:3-4 God tells us, “Defend the weak and fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” God is very concerned with the poor and needy. So, when a religious leader comes to Jesus and asks, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus points to our need to have compassion on our neighbors. Join us as we look at the familiar story of The Good Samaritan and discover the heart of compassion we who know God should have for our neighbor.

BELIEVE: Week 09: Stewardship: What does God want from me? Everything! God wants 100% of you. After all, as Creator, He owns it all anyway. When God gives us a blessing we do not own that blessing but are simply managers of it. God expects us to share the blessings He gives us. If we have God's heart we will naturally be generous to others for God has been generous to us all. Join us as we discover the meaning of "stewardship."

BELIEVE: Week 10: Eternity: Ask yourself, "Am I living with eternity in mind?" If you look at your relationships and your commitments, if you look at your finances, if you look at your calendar, your time, your energy—are you living with eternity in mind? Is the point of your life now to prepare for the next? If so, then your life will show it. Join us as we discover how living for eternity can change your life.
